After three and a half years work I am now unemployed. I live with my partner, he is zzp and is registered with the kvk. He has not worked this year and did not make a profit in 2009. For the last three months I have received a WW-uitkering, that has finished today. I have tried to make an appointment for a bijstandsuitkering but was refused as my partner is self employed.

We have no savings and are finding it difficult to get work. Is there any benefit we can claim for ? I would be much appreciate any advice you could give me.

All I can think of is Bbz (Besluit bijstandverlening zelfstandigen), a temporary self employed person's allowance. The following categories can apply:

- starting self employed persons already on benefit (WW or WWB)
- self employed persons with temporary financial difficulties
- older (55+) self employed persons with a non viable business
- self employed persons who want to terminate their business

Your husband can apply for this benefit at the Social Services department of your municipality. The benefit supplements your income to the level of a normal bijstandsuitkering (WWB).
